“For me, producing “Up” started really humbly. After finishing up spring semester, I started something like 7 or 8 original tracks simultaneously; but I had a hard time finishing them knowing that each of them had potential to destroy dancefloors and radios. So, one night, I decided to set those aside and focus solely on sound design and instrumentation using one of my favorite up-and-coming artists, Mord Fustang, as inspiration. I made some really nice sounds using several synths like zebra2 and NI Massive and just let the melodies flow into a 1 minute cut. After a great response to this clip after I uploaded it onto my soundcloud page, I knew it had an opportunity to become a great track.
